“AT JUNIOR ROCKERS WE BELIEVE THAT EVERY CHILD DESERVES THE RIGHT TO START OUT LIFE WITH A QUALITY MUSIC EDUCATION”

INSTRUMENTAL PROGRAMS

At Junior Rockers, we’ve dedicated years to the development of our curriculum. The AMEB syllabus begins at an advanced level so we have also developed and published a series of music books specifically for young beginners. This series, called The Road to Mastery, takes young students from complete beginner and teaches them all the basic fundamentals of theory, technique and physical command required to progress into the AMEB series. The Road to Mastery series includes book for guitar, piano, singing and drums. All four books were written in parallel and include “cross-over” songs featured in all books that allow students learning different instruments to play songs together from early on in their development. We teach contemporary pieces in a fun and engaging way while at the same time teaching students the fundamental building blocks of all music. The curriculum covers music theory and technical skills as well as performance pieces. Our teachers work with each student individually to ensure they are learning material that is appropriate for their ability as well as meeting their individual tastes and interests.

Instrumental Programs we offer:

LESSONS

Musical instruments may be provided by the school or may need to be purchased?? Using our very own Road To Mastery Books and custom curriculum that is designed specifically for young beginners, our dedicated teachers will guide students through developing their music theory and technical skills. Based on their ability level, our teachers help students select appropriate musical pieces to learn and practice. Contemporary musical pieces are selected to meet students' individual tastes and interests; and to provide a focal point for their skill development throughout the semester.

LESSON STRUCTURE

Lessons begin with a review of the homework set from the last lesson and a progress discussion with the students. This provides an opportunity to identify any difficulties and address any concerns. Throughout the lesson, teachers instruct students in musical theory and help students develop their chosen musical piece. The lesson concludes with feedback and students are set homework to practice at home. Our teachers provide feedback for parents in the lesson diary to track their child’s progress and support their musical development outside of the classroom..

STUDENT PROGRESS

The Road to Mastery books allow students to continually advance their musical skills in accordance with the Certified Australian Music Examination Board Curriculum. The Mastery books are structured with increasing levels of complexity as they make their way through the books.

To further monitor their progress, the lesson diary provides a way to document feedback; which is helpful for teacher, student and parent. All Junior Rockers students also receive end of semester reports.

At Junior Rockers, we aim to develop students into confident musical performers. We provide opportunities for students to showcase their skills through band programs and recitals. We believe in getting students to perform early in their development and as frequently as possible, to help them grow their performance skills in time with their technical music abilities. Our motivated and enthusiastic teachers support students through preparing for performances, providing them with all the guidance they need.
